iOS 5 is the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. iOS 5 will take some time to get released but its features were announced on June 6 at the WWDC 2011 keynote address. This latest Operating system claims to have around 200 new features and an updated SDK with over 1,500 new APIs and powerful development tools. There are many features for developers and users like iCloud Storage, Newsstand Kit, Core Image, GLKit, Twitter and new Game Center APIs and what not.
iOS 5 Features
Some of the new key features coming with the iOS 5 are as follows:
iCloud Storage
These APIs facilitate apps development through which documents and key value data can be easily stored in iCloud. iOS and Mac Developer Program members can not only create their apps for the iCloud service but also set up iCloud for iOS, OS X Lion and Windows.
Notification Center
These are constructed over the existing notification system allowing you to work efficiently on push notifications and existing local. It is even easier to implement than before as it is built in Xcode.
Newsstand
Now the hottest magazines and newspapers issues can be directly published in the Newsstand which is visible on the Home Screen. Through this you can simply manage your auto-renewable subscriptions as the In-App Purchase subscriptions are used for producing the Newsstand Applications.
Automatic Reference Counting
Because of Automatic Reference Counting now it’s the work of the compiler to manage memory; therefore making the apps run faster for smoother performance.
Twitter Integration
The new Tweet sheet allows you to directly Tweet from your apps providing all the features available to built-in apps.
Storyboards
By using the new Storyboards the work-flow of your app can be outlined. The transitions and segues can also be specified without making any efforts to code.
Core Image
With Core Image, incredible effects can be created not only in the cameras but also in image editing apps. It also offers you numerous built-in filters all along with amazing features.
Game Center
Game Center provides you with various features such as including players to existing multi-player games, showing achievement notification banners, and managing multiple game sessions at the same time.
iMessage
iMessage not only works as an iPhone Messenger, but also work for iPad and iPod touch. Individual or group text conversations can be made within your apps.
iOS 5 beta 3 has surely brought a huge number of superficially hidden but significant extras. However, it is not clear that the upcoming iPhone 5 will run on Apple’s iOS 5 beta and will have a better system containing iCloud.
